Strategies for Getting Customers in Real Estate Photography

With the advent of cheap digital cameras, almost anyone can be a real estate photographer. The hardest part is trying to get customers. Without customers, your business will struggle. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get more customers in this field.

Here are a few strategies that will help you get started in real estate photography:

1.) Start With Your Personal Network

Ask your family and friends if they know anyone who’s thinking of buying or selling a home. Chances are, they’ll be able to put you in touch with someone who needs your services. For instance, a local painter I know gave me contacts to a bunch of realtors in my city.

2.) Get Involved With Local Organizations Related to Real Estate or Photography.

This is a great way to meet potential customers and build your professional network. You can also join BNI chapters as well and connect with realtors there.

3.) Attend Local Events Related To Real Estate or Photography

For example, you could go to a real estate trade show or a photography meetup group. This is also a great way to meet potential customers and build your professional network.

4.) Use Social Media to Promote Your Business

Create a Facebook page or Instagram account for your real estate photography business, and post regularly about your work. Be sure to use relevant hashtags so that potential customers can find you easily online.

Now, on how to contact them, I like to use Instagram to contact realtors. Just use #realtorYOURCITY. Usually, Instagram will give you other various options in the search on the hashtags to use while searching.

5.) Use Online Directories to List Your Business

Sites like Yelp and Angie’s List are great places to start. This will help improve your visibility online and give potential customers an easy way to find you when they’re searching for someone to hire for their real estate photography needs.

6.) Have a Strong Portfolio of Work That Showcases Your Skills As a Photographer

When potential customers see what you’re capable of, they’ll be more likely to hire you for their own projects.

7.) Offer Discounts or Freebies for First-Time Customers

This is a great way to entice new clients while still making money off of your services. When I started out, I did free real estate photos for a month to lure new clients.

8.) Get Involved With Local Charities or Non-Profits

This is a great way to give back to the community while also getting exposure for your business. Not only will this help you attract new customers, but it will also help you build goodwill among potential clients.

9.) Give Talks or Workshops About Real Estate Photography

This is a great way to show off your expertise while also helping others learn more about the field. Plus, it’s a great networking opportunity. You never know who might be in attendance and in need of your services!

10.) Stay Up-To-Date on The Latest Trends in Real Estate Photography

Keep an eye on popular blogs and forums so that you can see what people are talking about. This will help you stay ahead of the curve and offer potential clients the newest, most innovative services available.

11.) Visit Realtor Offices and Ask How You Can Be a Preferred Photographer

This is one of the most effective ways of getting business in real estate photography. It does involve a lot of work and constant grind. It involves you driving to every realtor’s office in town and asking the broker if they have a preferred vendor program for real estate photographers.

If they do, ask them how you can become a preferred vendor. Usually, they will charge a fee.

Now, if the broker or person in charge isn’t in the office, just ask someone for their contact information and email them. In my experience, you will get 10 No’s for every Yes.

But you have to remember that you’re running a business. If you put in the work, your business will reward you for it.

Conclusion

These are just a few strategies that will help you get started in real estate photography! By implementing these tips, you’ll be well on your way to attracting new clients and building a successful business. Good luck!
